Concurrent Review Purpose: Work with the treating physician or therapist to develop an agreed upon treatment plan based upon actual medical necessity Scope: Plan of care (past, present and anticipated or requested) Medical necessity Reasonableness Causal relatedness Not limited in scope for questions Reviewer: Unless otherwise stipulated by the customer, the reviewer will be in active practice and disciplined-matched (MD, DO, DC) to the treatment provider Inputs: Medical records (no limit) Peer-to-peer discussion Evidence Based Medicine Reviewer’s active clinical and academic experience Latest medical research Jurisdictional guidelines Discussion: Unless otherwise stipulated by the customer, the treatment provider will be contacted and receive a copy of the report Concurrent Review Follow-Up – Conducted at designated intervals after a Concurrent Review to ensure with the treatment provider that the agreed-upon recommendations have been implemented
